President’s Message

Fellow Alumni,

The year 2008-2009 will be memorable for all the IIScians for years to come. All the Office Bearers of IISc Alumni Association feel that they are fortunate to be in the Executive Committee during this Centenary Year of IISc. Everyone in IISc is now focused on celebrating the once in a Century, the Centenary events which start from May 2008 and go up to May 2009.

IISc. Alumni Association is now in its 30th year of its existence. We are fortunate to have full support from our esteemed Patrons, Prof. P. Balaram, Director and Prof. N. Balakrishnan, Associate Director of I.I.Sc. It is the desire of our Patrons as well as other members of the Executive Committee that every alumnus should visit at least once IISc Campus during the Centenary year. The Sunday Alumni Network meetings started by IISc AA are serving the same purpose and have become extremely popular.

Major developments since last year are the conduct of Global Conference organised by our Alumni in North America, starting of IISc Alumni Cell and starting of Bangalore Chapter of IISc AA. The event organised by Alumni of IISc in North America will be remembered for years. Many of us who attended the event discovered that our Alumni are on the upbeat. IISc. Alumni Cell is constituted as a single point contact for Alumni with IISc and its formation is timely. Prof. S. Mohan, who is the Chairman of Alumni Cell, is very dynamic and he is playing a significant role in bringing together IISc. Alumni and also promote their entrepreneurial dreams. The Bangalore Chapter consisting of large number of younger alumni in this city will be a major force in organising the activities during the Centenary Year.

IISc AA Newsletter, to be brought out once in a quarter, will serve the purpose of reaching our alumni around the World. News will be continuously updated in IISc Website as and when they occur and an abridged version will also appear in the Newsletter. I request all the Alumni to frequently visit the IISc AA website.
Finally, I wish all the alumni an excellent year during 2008-2009 and we look forward to workwith you to make a grand success of the Centenary year.
