- Is membership to IISc Alumni Association different from the membership to various chapters (for example, Bangalore chapter)?
- I am a member of IISc Alumni Association and paid my membership fees some time back. I am residing in Bangalore and I am not receiving any information about the Alumni activities. What should I do?

- Is membership to IISc Alumni Association different from the membership to various chapters (for example, Bangalore chapter)?
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Alumni Association is parent body. All chapters within India operate under the guide-lines issued by the parent body. A membership (with in India) is always to the parent body, IISc Alumni Association only. However, various chapters are authorized to bring in all Alumni across the country on board by conducting the membership drives; collect money towards the membership from the Alumni and remit it to the parent body. All chapters are empowered to conduct local events and facilitate IISc Alumni interaction in any ways, as the local chapters may deem it appropriate.
- I am a member of IISc Alumni Association and paid my membership fees some time back. I am residing in Bangalore and I am not receiving any information about the Alumni activities. What should I do?
Please inform your current contacts (address, phone number, email address) by mail to alumni@admin.iisc.ernet.in, stating your membership particulars. Also, register at the web-site http://alumni.iisc.ernet.in/. This will ensure that you will be notified about all future events of IISc Alumni association and chapters during this important Centenary year of IISc (27 May 2008 – 26 May 2009).
- I am a member of IISc Alumni association and was staying in Mumbai. I have recently moved to Bangalore. Should I pay any additional membership fee to Bangalore chapter? How do I receive information on Alumni events?
As indicated earlier, there is no separate membership fee to various chapters of IISc Alumni association. If you have already the membership fee to the IISc Alumni association, you will automatically become member of local chapter (Bangalore chapter). Please interact with the local chapter members to participate in the local activities. If you are not receiving any information on Alumni events, please register your particular by sending a mail to alumni@admin.iisc.ernet.in and registering at the web-site http://alumni.iisc.ernet.in/, as indicated above.
- I understand that IISc is celebrating centenary year during 2008-09. How can I know about the various events planned during this year?
Indian Institute of Science is celebrating its Centenary year starting 27 May 2008. May 2009 will be the epoch making month when IISc would be completing 100
years of existence. The Institute has decided to organize several special events during the centenary year, which happens to be May 27, 2008 – May 26, 2009. In particular, an exquisite event "The IISc Centenary Conference" is planned to be held at the National Science Seminar Complex in the IISc Campus over a four day period, December 13-16, 2008. In addition, all divisions and departments of IISc are planning several conferences, Alumni meets and show-case events during this year. For example, the Electrical Sciences division is organizing a conference titled “Managing Complexity in a distributed world” (http://csa.iisc.ernet.in/MCDES-2008). Please visit IISc web-site (http://www.iisc.ernet.in) for more up-to-date information on these events and links to various individual events.
During the centenary year, it is the desire of the Director and the Associate Director that every single alumnus of IISc visits/touches the Institute. The IISc Alumni Association (plus its Bangalore Chapter) and the IISc Alumni Cell have therefore embarked on the exercise of contacting as many alumni as possible.

Please call up IISc Alumni Association office at Bangalore (23600180 / 22932597 Mr Satish) and update them with your requirement and your current contact address and phone numbers. The Alumni association will make sure that you are informed of all related Alumni events taking place at IISc or elsewhere.
